Books that make sense of the world.
Universitas Press is actively seeking book proposals for scholarly monographs and edited collections in the humanities and social sciences. We welcome projects that contribute meaningfully to current debates and deepen understanding across disciplines.
We are particularly interested in works related to:
Cultural studies
Literary studies
Education and pedagogy
Classroom instruction and curriculum
Entertainment, performance, and the arts
We are also developing a new Education imprint, and we invite proposals that explore contemporary issues in teaching, learning, and educational leadership—especially those that offer practical applications or engage with equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Why Publish with Universitas Press?
At Universitas Press, we pride ourselves on building strong, collaborative relationships with our authors. All submitted manuscripts undergo peer review to ensure academic rigor, and we work closely with contributors to bring out the full potential of each project. Our editorial team offers thoughtful feedback, attentive revision support, and personalized guidance from proposal to publication. Whether you’re an early-career scholar or an experienced academic, we are committed to amplifying your voice and making your work accessible, relevant, and widely read.
We are a smaller press, but that gives us a key advantage: we are faster and more agile than most traditional publishers. From the moment we receive a full manuscript, the typical time to publication is around six months. Our books are affordable and widely distributed, making them accessible to students and educators alike. We print an initial batch of copies, but unlike larger houses, we are not rigid—we can make updates or corrections quickly when needed. We believe in flexibility, responsiveness, and a genuine partnership with our authors.
Through our Canadian distributor LOGIN, we work with academic libraries, university bookstores, and professional networks to ensure your work reaches the communities who need it most. Our titles are available in both print and digital formats. In the US and worldwide, we are available through Ingram Lightning Source and its many partners.
Proposal Guidelines
For works in the humanities, please submit a proposal using MLA style.
For works in the social sciences, we recommend using APA style.
Your proposal should include:
A working title and abstract (250–500 words)
A table of contents
A chapter-by-chapter summary
A sample chapter (optional but encouraged)
A brief author biography and CV
A list of comparable or competing titles, with a short explanation of how your book differs or offers something new
A short section outlining potential audiences, course adoption possibilities, and how you plan to support marketing efforts (e.g., professional networks, conferences, social media)
An estimate of potential sales, if possible (based on audience size, course use, or niche market potential)
We accept manuscripts in English or French, and we welcome bilingual editions and translation projects that align with our editorial vision.
All submissions should be sent as a single PDF to editorchief@universitaspress.com. Please include "Book Proposal Submission" in the subject line.
We do not accept vanity publications, unrevised dissertations, or manuscripts outside the scope of humanities and social sciences.
We look forward to discovering your work.
